Pekiti-Tirsia Kali [PTK-SMF]: Dual Tomahawks Flow
Переглядів 2,5 тис.5 років тому
Free-flowing with a pair of TAK tomahawk trainers after getting home from work. It's been awhile since I took these out and moved around with them. The palakot (hatchet, axe) or wasay aren't typical Pekiti-Tirsia Kali weapons. But as you can see, our combat system and training methodology allows us to transfer sword/stick mechanics to these weapons easily. And since we're already a close-quarte...

Oh yeah, I've also changed my channel into a personal one where I can upload videos from both my new San ...

    Kampilan cant never be pekiti tirsia. Pekiti means short and kampilan is long sword. They contradict each other by arts and by name. Plse research more. Kali and pekiti tirsia are two different system or arts. Put it this way, tie two birds' feet to make it as one even they had four wings they cannot fly. Im not having crab mentality, they feel akward when you swing both.

    • @GuroFerd
      @GuroFerd 3 роки тому

      Your assessment of pekiti tirsia is incorrect. Pekiti means "extreme close," not "short." The art's name describes its combat strategies and guerilla style hit-n-run tactics, NOT because of the weapon. Pekiti-tirsia has long weapon systems; malayu sibat (spear), bankaw (staff) and even dos manos (2 handed sword). The training methodology teaches one to be able to handle all manner of handheld weapons and for this reason why many of its traditional principles are even transferrable to modern firearms. So maybe you needs to do more research instead of acting like a know-it-all. Thanks.

    this footwork... GALANG! Tim Waid moves his body in ways... i believe that you can give him a single chop stick or a tea spoon if you like and he will still kick your ass (or kill you if he wants to!), he is so fast, you will not even see it coming (so your death will be fast and you will not suffer a lot... unless Tim Waid wants you to suffer! ;-) )

    Sir good day! What is the measurement of the spear used in Malayu sibat?

    • @GuroFerd
      @GuroFerd 3 роки тому

      The spear length will depend on how you plan to fight with it. I generally use a light 5ft spear; I use slashes and thrusts in equal measure. I also do a lot of manipulations.

    For FMA Kali empty hands application my husband uses Muay Thai w/hobud lobud parries but instead of going to to toe he uses triangular misalignment of Kali w/Muay Thai strikes and grappling/throwing attacking from the flanks. This misalignment is like taisabaki in Ashihara karate whereas traditional Muay Thai fights toe to toe like Kyokushin karate. This is the way my husband teaches FMA empty hands, he created a Muay Thai based approach that incorporates Taisabaki misalignment footwork & hobud/lobud parries with Trapping, wrestling arm drags, neck crank throws, arm locking takedowns y FMA countergrappling. He calls his art Ghost-Kali (trademarked) cause both the armed y unarmed applications use heavy evasive misalignment TaiSabaki keeping oneself always engaging their outside flanks so their like fighting a ghost they can't strike or grapple.

    I'm trying to figure out what the "formal" relationship is between Tim Wade and Leo Gaje. Is tuhon Wade the head of the organization (PTKGO) while tuhon Gaje is the grand tuhon of the art practiced by the organization? Or is Wade the head of his own branch/style of Pekiti Tirsia which is somehow distinct from what Gaje is doing?

    • @GuroFerd
      @GuroFerd 3 роки тому

      Short history; PTKGO was established to be the HQ of Grandtuhon and PTK in different parts of the world headed by the system's most senior instructors at the time of its inception (some time in early 2000's); PTKGO USA under Tuhon Tim Waid, PTKGO Montreal under Tuhon Philip Gelinas, PTKGO Europe under Tuhon Uli Weidle. However, Grandtuhon being the way he is seldom supports the organizations he set up and does nothing to ensure its success, so PTKGO as an "official" global organization has dissolved and the heads of those respective HQ's have moved on with their own brands... Tuhon Tim Waid created and heads his PTK-SMF, Tuhon Phil with his GAMMA, and Uli Weidle created his own "style" called Armadong Kali after his fall out with Grandtuhon. Tuhon Tim Waid's PTK-SMF is distinct because his focus is actually making the tactics work (no easy task), instead of spending endless hours doing endless, repetitive "flow" drills that are more conceptual than applicable.... but that's my experience having trained with other PTK instructors.

    Could you potentially strike/block the incoming right handed knife weilding appendage with your left hand blade while simultaneously oblique angular stepping to the outside of the opponents right knife weilding arm with your left foot and then follow through with your right handed power slap to the opponents right eye? Also, correct me if I'm wrong but are there elements of WWII combatives in PTK-SMF? I deeply thank all the Allied and Filipino combat personnel who served in the Philippines during WWII.
